Oprah admits being ‘wrong’ and ’embarrassed’ about OWN failings

EMBRACING the fear and living your best life will be just a couple of the pockets of wisdom shared by US TV Queen Oprah during her speaking tour of Australia.

The self-made inspirational billionaire opened up to Tracy Grimshaw on A Current Affair on Monday night, confessing her moments of ‘pain and suffering’ during the early stages of her network OWN, which she launched following a hugely successful talk show career.

“I mistakenly thought that as I matured and become more interested in what are the big questions, because those are the shows that really excited me … I thought I could create a network where you just have those conversations all the time.

“I was wrong. I have never been more wrong in my life,” Oprah admitted.

“It caused me a lot of temporary pain and suffering because I was embarrassed. I thought that I had actually earned the right to be able to take a risk, and if you take a risk and it doesn’t work out, you don’t have to get slammed against the wall for it.”

An Evening With Oprah tours Australian cities, including Brisbane, in December and Oprah hopes it will inspire others to take a chance.

“This tour really is about sharing my life story, what I’ve been through and how I’ve come to actualise being able to live the best life for myself, and hopefully help other people do it for themselves.”
