The mother of Broncos and NSW prop Payne Haas has been sentenced to two years jail – with immediate parole – for assaulting a delivery driver on the Gold Coast.
Joan Taufua admitted to attacking the driver in a loading dock at the Pines in Elanora last year.
The truck driver was left with severe facial injuries after the assault and needed 5 weeks off work.

The attack started because Ms Taufua believed the truck driver had cut her off while she left the McDonald’s car park.
Southport Court heard today that two others were involved in the incident, one held the driver in a headlock while Ms Taufua assaulted him, and another threw a few punches.
The truck driver provided phone video footage which was shown in court, as well as security footage.
The driver was punched and kneed to the head as Taufua held him by the shirt.
He suffered a fractured cheekbone, a hole in his lip and a deviated nose.
The magistrate told the court she wanted to impose prison time, though it was difficult to do so with so many dependant on Ms Taufua (nine children, including a quadriplegic son).
Ms Taufua has a lengthy criminal history in NSW and QLD, having served jail time in NSW previously, though she has walked free from court this afternoon.
