Overheight truck closes Tugun tunnel
Motorists are being warned of heavy delays on the M1 after an incident in the Tugun tunnel.
It’s understood an overheight vehicle entered the tunnel around 9.25am, triggering the overheight vehicle detectors.
The southbound lanes of the tunnel are now closed.
NSW Transport has confirmed diversions are in place, forcing drivers off the M1 at Exit 95 in Currumbin and onto the Gold Coast Highway where they can rejoin the motorway further south.
“This diversion will add around 5 minutes to your travel time,” Transport NSW said.
There are heavy delays back to Tugun as a result of the incident.
