Pair charged after Qld taxi driver repeatedly stabbed

TWO men have been charged after a taxi driver was stabbed several times in Acacia Ridge yesterday.

The attack happened just after 4.30am on Sunday, when the pair entered the cab on Foote Street and demanded money from the driver.

Police say the duo then allegedly stabbed the 31-year-old in his thigh and hands before fleeing the scene.

The driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, with police launching a hunt for his attackers.

A short time later, officers found two men on a nearby street before taking them into custody.

A 22-year-old Acacia Ridge man and a 20-year-old Koongal man have since been charged with one count each of unlawful wounding, attempted robbery with violence and unlawful entry of a vehicle at night and commit violence.

They’re due to face Richlands Magistrates court this morning.
