Pair charged after woman bundled into car and raped in horror sex attack

TWO men have been arrested and charged over the horrifying alleged abduction and rape of a woman in Melbourne.

The attack happened in Carlton shortly after 4am last Sunday.

The woman was allegedly bundled into a car and driven to an unknown location where she was sexually assaulted by two men.

Police said the victim woman spent the night out in the city with a friend before the two shared a taxi back to Carlton and parted ways.

In a statement on Saturday morning, Victoria Police confirmed two men wanted over the attack had been arrested.

The men handed themselves into police at separate police stations on Friday after police appealed to the public for help.

Both men have been charged with abduction, two counts of rape, unlawful imprisonment and theft.

They faced Melbourne Magistrate’s Court yesterday evening and were remanded in custody overnight.

The pair will reappear in court on Tuesday.

The alleged attack came just days after Melbourne comedian Eurydice Dixon was raped and murdered in the same suburb.

The 22-year-old’s body was found on a soccer field at the Princes Park sporting precinct around 2.40am last Wednesday morning.

She had been attacked, raped and killed, allegedly by a 19-year-old man with autism while walking home home after performing at a local club.

The 19-year-old from Broadmeadows has been charged.
