Pair charged over wild police chase on northern Gold Coast

TWO teens are due to face court today after allegedly leading police on a wild chase in a stolen car at Coomera overnight.

The drama unfolded around 7.30pm, when officers spotted a stolen white Holden Captiva driving along the Pacific Motorway.

Police followed the car to the Foxwell Road offramp, where they deployed a tyre deflation device, however the vehicle failed to stop and sped off along Dreamworld Parkway and back on to the M1.

“The driver of the damaged car allegedly attempted to ram police vehicles a number of times before speeding away,” Qld Police said in a statement.

The car was found dumped on Diamond Sands Drive at Upper Coomera a short time later, with the dog squad called in to track down the duo.

The men were later found hiding near a service station and taken into custody.

Police allege they’re linked to a number of recent burglaries and vehicle thefts in the Gold Coast area.

An 18-year-old Upper Coomera man has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, evasion, obstruct police, unlawful uses of a motor vehicle, driving unlicensed, burglary, trespass, stealing and two counts of receiving tainted property.

Another 18-year-old man has been charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs, receiving tainted property and one count each of burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, obstruct police and trespass.

Both are due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.
