Two men are recovering from serious injuries in the Gold Coast University Hospital following a nasty crash south of Tweed Heads.
Emergency crews were called to the M1 Motorway, near Clothiers Creek around 8.00pm last night, following reports of a serious crash.
Upon arrival, they found a Mazda sedan and a Volkswagon Golf had collided head-on.

The driver of the Mazda, a 67-year-old man, and the driver of the Volkswagon, a 21-year-old man, were trapped in the wreckage before being released and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital.
Police say both men are in a stable condition with serious pelvic and lower limb injuries.
The Motorway was closed for around one hour while the scene was examined, and the wreckage removed.
Police are now appealing for anyone with information about the incident or dashcam from the area to come forward.
