Pair rescued after early morning near-drowning in Surfers

TWO people have had a lucky escape after coming into trouble while swimming in waters on the Gold Coast in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency crews were called to The Esplanade and Cavill Avenue in Surfers Paradise just before 3.00am following reports of a near-drowning.

A woman in her 20s was treated at the scene by paramedics following the “post immersion” incident.

She was then taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The man, whose age is not known, was also assessed at the scene but declined transport to hospital.
