Former federal MP Clive Palmer is suing The Courier-Mail for defamation, over an opinion piece published earlier this week.
Mr Palmer has featured heavily in the media in recent months as he faces scrutiny over the collapse of Queensland Nickel.
After claiming he was too sick to give evidence to liquidators, Mr Palmer was ordered to appear before the Federal Court in Brisbane in May.

Clutching a vomit bag and using a breathing apparatus and a pillow, he claimed he was suffering memory loss after ingesting a morphine-based painkiller.
He was also photographed earlier this week boarding a 24-day cruise in Spain with his family where he reportedly paid $10,000 for each ticket.
His defamation announcement did not specify why he was unhappy with the column, other than stating that the operation by The Courier Mail have been false.
