A STRONG earthquake has struck the middle of Papua New Guinea.
The US Geological Survey said the quake hit about 90 kilometres southwest of Porgera on Monday morning.
According to the agency, it struck at a depth of 35 kilometres.

It’s not yet known if the quake has caused any damage, however there have been no reports of injuries at this stage.
The Bureau of Meteorology has confirmed there is no tsunami threat to Australia.
