Parents plead guilty to manslaughter of baby found in washing machine

Parents of a newborn found dead in a washing machine in 2012 have pleaded guilty to manslaughter & accessory after the fact.

Ronal Chand and his estranged wife Sursaree Chand appeared in the Brisbane Supreme Court on Friday.

The court heard Sursaree, who suffered from depression and anxiety, killed her baby daughter, before her husband Ronal hid the newborn in a washing machine at their Brisbane home in January 2012.


In court this mornnig Ronal Chand was sentenced to three years imprisonment, suspended after nine months, after pleading guilty to accessory to manslaughter.

Sursaree had her sentencing for manslaughter adjourned after suffering a fit in the courtroom.
