Passenger accused of fracturing taxi driver’s arm in vicious assault

A MAN who allegedly bashed a taxi driver in Sydney overnight, fracturing his arm, has been arrested and charged.

Police said the cabbie was attacked by a male passenger on Waverley Street in Bondi Junction just after 12.30am.

The driver was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to the Prince of Wales Hospital.

Police said he had suffered a suspected fractured arm and bruising.

The male passenger, along with a female passenger, left the scene.

Following inquiries, the 34-year-old male passenger was arrested in a unit block nearby.

He was taken to Waverley Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The man was granted bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Tuesday 6 December.

Inquiries are continuing.
