Passenger killed after four-wheel-drives collide head-on in country NSW

A MAN has been killed in a head-on crash near Tamworth, in country NSW.

Police said a southbound Toyota Hilux collided with a northbound Nissan X-Trail on Werris Creek Road at Duri around 4.20pm on Saturday.

Sadly, a 54-year-old man sitting in the front passenger seat of the X-Trail sustained life-threatening injuries and died at the scene.

The 70-year-old man behind the wheel of the X-Trail and the driver of the Hilux – a 17-year-old boy – were both taken to Tamworth Base Hospital for treatment.

Police said their injuries were not life-threatening.

Police from Oxley Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
