DETAILS have emerged of how a British passenger plane with 198 people on board was forced to dodge a military missile while flying over Egypt.
Thomson Airways flight 476 from Stansted was en route to the Egyptian resort of Shark el Sheikh when it reportedly came within 1,000ft (305m) of the rocket back on 23 August.

The Daily Mail reports the pilot spotted the rocket and ordered the first officer, who was in charge at the time, to take evasive action and turn to the left to avoid being hit.
A spokesperson for the Department for Transport said the incident was not a targeted attack, but instead likely to be connected to routine exercises being conducted by the Egyptian military in the area at the time.
Thanks to the actions of the quick thinking pilots, the aircraft landed safely and no-one was injured.
