Passengers arrested, driver on the run after police pursue stolen car in Sydney’s east

TWO women have been arrested and charged while a man remains on the run following a police pursuit through Sydney’s east.

Police say they attempted to pull over a stolen vehicle with three people inside on Addison Road at Kensington at around 12.20am on Sunday when it failed to stop, sparking a pursuit to Roma Avenue where the vehicle spun out of control and crashed into a pole.

The male driver ran from the scene, while two female passengers, aged 26 and 19, who also tried running from the car were arrested a short distance away at which time the older woman allegedly spat at a police officer.

Officers allegedly found cannabis, a replica pistol, a hunting knife and several mobile phones inside the vehicle which police allege was stolen from a car hire company in Mascot on Thursday.

The 26-year-old woman has been charged with multiple serious offences including assault police and possess a prohibited drug, while the 19-year-old woman is facing serious charges of aggravated break and enter, and take and drive conveyance without consent.

Both women were refused bail and will appear in Waverley Local Court tomorrow.

 

The driver of the car remains on the run.
