Passengers killed in Russian plane inferno

The death toll from an inferno on a passenger plane in Russia has risen to 41.

The blaze broke out on the Aeroflot Sukhoi Superjet-100 shortly after taking off from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport.

The plane was carrying 73 passengers and five crew members.

Footage shows the aircraft’s tail on fire and black smoke billowing from the plane as it returned to the airport for an emergency landing.

The plane is then seen skidding down the runway before it eventually comes to a halt.

Passengers were then evacuated from the plane down inflatable slides.

Frightening footage has also emerged from inside the plane as it made its emergency landing as passengers are heard screaming in terror.

Investigators have confirmed that two children are among those killed with at least another six people injured.
