Patient dies in ambulance rollover

Investigations are underway after a woman was killed in an ambulance rollover in South Australia early this morning.

The accident occurred on Port Wakefield Road in Virginia about 2.45am.

In a statement, police said the ambulance was carrying two paramedics, a patient and a family member when it rolled.

“The ambulance, carrying two paramedics, a patient and a family member, was travelling south along Port Wakefield Road, Virginia when it rolled, about 2.45am.”

“Sadly, the female patient in the rear of the ambulance died at the scene.”

The two paramedics and the woman’s daughter were taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

SA Health said their thoughts were with those involved in the crash and their families.

An investigation into how the crash occurred is currently underway.
