Peaceful end to 3-hour Gold Coast siege

A man has been taken into custody after an armed stand-off with police in Molendinar on Sunday night.

Police declared an emergency situation at 9.05pm as they responded to “an armed man making threats at a residence” on Rosegum Drive.

A police spokesperson confirmed to MyGC.com.au that he was armed with a gun.

The Public Safety Preservation Act involved areas around Rosegum Drive, Sugargum Court, Crestwood Drive and Lilydale Place.

After over 3 hours of negotiations, police managed to detain the main at 12.22am this morning.

The man was later taken to hospital.

Nobody else was thought to be in the property at the time and there were no injuries.

Investigations are continuing.
