Pedestrian critically injured after being hit by car

A MAN has been rushed to hospital with life-threatening head injuries after being hit by a car near Bundaberg.

The 23-year-old was struck at the intersection of Childers Road and Kingswood Way in Ellio just before midnight.

Queensland Ambulance said the man suffered extensive injuries to his head and face.

The young man was treated by critical care paramedics before being rushed to Bundaberg Base Hospital.

He was transported by road ambulance in a critical condition under lights and sirens.

A critical care paramedic accompanied the man to hospital.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
