Pedestrian critically injured after being hit by car

A MAN is fighting for his life in hospital after being run over by a car in Batemans Bay overnight.

The 47-year-old was struck by a Holden Commodore station wagon on Clyde River Bridge around 6.30pm.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to St George Hospital where police say he remains today in a critical but stable condition.

The 21-year-old woman driving the Commodore was uninjured and taken to Batemans Bay Hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Officers from the South Coast Police District are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
