Pedestrian dies on roadside after being hit by car in Sydney

A MAN has tragically died after being hit by a car in Sydney’s Inner West.

It happened on the Hume Highway, near Hedges Avenue, at Strathfield around 10.40 am.

Sadly, the man believed to be aged in his 60s could not be saved and died at the scene.


The driver of the car, a 30-year-old man, was taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing.

The area has been declared a crime scene and is being examined by the Crash Investigation Unit.

Traffic diversions are in place and motorists are advised to check Live Traffic NSW for updates.

Police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
