Pedestrian hit and killed by car while trying to cross motorway

A PEDESTRIAN has died after being hit by a car while trying to walk across a motorway in Sydney’s northwest.

Police said the 71-year-old was crossing the M2, near the Windsor Road off-ramp at Baulkham Hills when he was struck around 10.50am.

The man sustained life-threatening injuries and, despite the efforts of emergency services, he could not be saved.


Police confirmed the 71-year-old man died at the scene.

The male driver, believed to be in his mid-twenties, stopped to render assistance after the crash.

He was taken to hospital for follow up medical tests and checks.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and will prepare a report for the Coroner.
