Pedestrian hit and killed by truck

A MAN has tragically died after being hit by a truck in Central West New South Wales.

The 33-year-old was crossing the road at the intersection of William and Durham Streets in Bathurst when he struck shortly after midday.

Emeregncy services were called to the scene about 12.10pm but sadly there was nothing they could do.

In a statement, NSW Police confirmed the man could not be saved and died at the scene.

The 49-year-old man driving the truck was taken to Bathurst Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Chifley Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and will prepare a report for the Coroner.
