UPDATE at 10:30 AM | A 16-YEAR-OLD boy remains in hospital this morning after being run over by an alleged drunk driver in Surfers Paradise.
The boy was standing on the corner of Cavill and Ferny Avenue, waiting to cross the road, when he was struck just after 9pm last night.
He was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of the car – a 79-year-old man from Victoria – allegedly failed a roadside breath test.
He was subsequently arrested and taken to the nearby Surfers Paradise Police Station where he allegedly returned a breath analysis reading of 0.117.
The interstate visitor was charged with mid-range drink-driving and will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on March 20.
UPDATE @ 6.00AM, February 9: An alleged drunk-driver has been charged after a teenager was hit by a car in Surfers Paradise.
The 16-year-old boy was struck while standing on the edge of Cavill Avenue and Ferny Ave around 9.15pm on Friday night.
He was rushed to the Gold Coast University where he remains in a serious condition.
A 79-year-old man who was behind the wheel of the car returned a positive breath test at the scene of the crash.
He was taken to Surfers Paradise Police Station where he blew 0.117.
The Victorian man was charged with mid-range drink-driving and will front Southport Magistrates Court on March 20.
EARLIER @ 10.30PM, February 8: A PEDESTRIAN has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition after being hit by a car in Surfers Paradise.
It happened on Cavill Avenue, in the heart of the busy party precinct, just after 9pm.
Queensland Ambulance said paramedics were called reports of an incident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Ambulance crews arrived to find a male with serious injuries after being hit by a car.
He was treated at the scene before being rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital.
Queensland Ambulance said the patient was transported in a serious condition.
His age was not immediately known.
