Pedestrian hit by car on the Gold Coast

UPDATE 12:01AM | A PERSON has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition after being run over by a car in Surfers Paradise.

It’s understood the male, whose age remains unknown, was attempting to cross the Gold Coast Highway near Elkhorn Avenue when he was struck around 11pm.

Paramedics worked for some time to stabilise the patient at the scene before he was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital with serious injuries.

Police are on the scene and have closed the southbound lanes of the highway as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

EARLIER 11:30PM | A PERSON has been run over by a car on the Gold Coast Highway in Surfers Paradise.

The incident occurred in the southbound lanes of the highway (otherwise known as Ferny Avenue) near the intersection of Thomas Drive and Elkhorn Avenue around 11pm on Saturday night.

Paramedics said they were treating a “male person” at the scene.

The victim’s age and his condition is not known.

Motorists have been urged to steer clear of the area, with several lanes of traffic said to be blocked.

There was no further information available at the time of writing.
