Performers wanted for Gold Coast Show

GOLD Coast Show organisers are on the hunt for local dancers, singers and actors with “that special something” to be star performers at this year’s event.

They’ve scheduled an open casting call on Sunday morning, 15 June, at the Ikin Dance Australia studio at Varsity Lakes.

Ikin Dance Events Manager Matt Stephan said organisers are looking to recruit 50 talented youngsters aged between eight and 18 to form the Gold Coast Show Stars Troupe for the August 29-31 event at the new Gold Coast Turf Club showgrounds.

“They’ll be very busy over the three days performing as singers, dancers, actors, stage comperes and roving entertainers,” Mr Stephan said.

“We’re after young boys and girls who have that special something and, together, a wide array of talents.

“They’ll be involved in shows and presentations all over the showgrounds, and we’ll also be casting for this year’s Enid Blyton tribute performances.

“It’s all about discovering and promoting Gold Coast talent and giving them amazing performances opportunities,” he said.

The casting call on Sunday week will be held at the Ikin Dance Australia studios, 5/17 Crown Court at Varsity Lakes. Registrations open at 9:30am for a 10:00am start with the auditions expected to take two hours.

Children are asked to bring comfortable clothes with closed-in shoes, a water bottle, a snack, a recent photo and a completed application form.
