Man charged over Southport police incident
UPDATE: A MAN has been charged over a brutal bashing at a Southport unit complex yesterday which has left a man fighting for his life in hospital.
Police were called to the Margaret Street address just before 5pm following reports of a disturbance.
On arrival, they found a 27-year-old Southport man who’d been savagely bashed during an aletercation with another man.
The victim was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
A 23-year-old Southport man has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm and is due to face the Southport Magistrates Court today.
EARLIER: POLICE have confirmed they are on scene of an incident at a Southport unit complex where a person has been seriously injured.
Witnesses have reported seeing multiple emergency vehicles at the scene on Margaret Street, including police and ambulance crews.
A police spokesperson told myGC it was still early in the investigation however confirmed that a person has been injured at the address before stopping short on commenting on the type of injury.
A person is assisting police with their enquiries and police have taped off the area.
