PGA Tour winners headed home for Australian PGA

PGA TOUR winners John Senden and Steven Bowditch are set to compete in the Australian PGA Championship on the Gold Coast from the 11-14 December 2014.

World Number 50, Senden has had a career best year in 2014 notching up his second victory on the PGA TOUR at the Valspar Championship, followed with a top-10 finish at The Masters where he was the leading Australian.

Continuing Australia’s dominance in the US, Steven Bowditch broke through on the PGA TOUR at the Valero Texas Open when he claimed his first title on one of the world’s most lucrative Tours.

The winning pair will now return home to Australia where they will both be aiming to win the Australian PGA Championship for the first time.

“I achieved one of my career goals by winning on the PGA TOUR this year but winning the Australian PGA Championship is certainly high on my priority list,” said Bowditch.

“I am looking forward to returning home and giving it my best shot.”

Senden also echoed these sentiments, “It’s always nice returning home a winner, the reception we get from Australian sports fans makes the Aussie summer exciting.”

“This will be my first time playing the Australian PGA Championship on the Gold Coast, I have heard good things about the redesigned front nine holes at RACV Royal Pines Resort,” added Senden.

“I’m excited to take a look at the course and for it to hopefully be the site of my first Aussie PGA victory.”

The addition of Steven Bowditch and John Senden to the Australian PGA Championship will provide plenty of excitement for golf fans.

“It is fantastic to have two of our PGA TOUR winners teeing up in the Australian PGA Championship, especially two proud Queenslanders,” said Brian Thorburn, CEO of the PGA of Australia.

“John is renowned for his solid ball striking and Steven’s style of play is particularly exciting to watch, so along with defending champion Adam Scott there is going to be plenty of action unfolding on the Gold Coast.”

Teeing it up alongside Senden, Bowditch and defending champion Scott is American Boo Weekley and past champions Robert Allenby, Peter Lonard, Craig Parry, Greg Chalmers and Daniel Popovic.

The 2014 Australian PGA Championship will be played at RACV Royal Pines Resort from Thursday 11th – Sunday 14th December. Visit for further details.
