A PHOTO of a homeless Filipino boy using the light from McDonalds to do his homework has melted the hearts of people around the world.
The nine-year-old boy in the photo, Daniel Cabrera, lives on the streets of Cebu with his mother, after his father died and their family home burnt down.
Rappler reports Cabrera is a student in grade three and owns one pencil which he guards with rosemary beads to prevent the pencil from getting stolen.

The young childs mother earns 80 Philippine pesos a day which is about A$1.77.
The inspirational image was posted to Facebook by University student Joyce Torrefranca with the caption – “I got inspired by a kid” and has since gone viral.
Local politician Samuel Pagdilao saw the image online and was touched, giving Daniel a scholarship and his mother grants to start her own business.
“I hope Daniel’s story will continue touching our hearts so that we will always be inspired and motivated in every situation we face in life.” Torrefranca said.
