The widow of a long serving fireman has received a 100th birthday surprise she will remember forever.
On June 22, Fire Fighters from the Norfolk Fire-Rescue department in Virginia lined up out the front of Jeanette Carty’s home to wish her an extra special happy birthday.
In a Facebook post which has since gone viral, Norfolk Fire-Rescue posted images of the heartwarming encounter.

“Mrs. Jeanette Carty is a long time resident of Norfolk. She still lives in the house where she and her late husband raised their children. Norfolk Fire-Rescue has always been part of her life,” the Facebook post reads.
“Her late husband, Joe Carty served the city for 30 years, starting in 1942; as well as her nephew, Capt. David Bear and his father.
“Yesterday, Mrs. Jeanette Bear Carty turned 100 years old. Battalion 3, Engine 11, Recruit class 155 and a few members from training showed up on her door step to wish her a Happy Birthday.”
Mrs Carty’s facial expression says it all. Happy 100th Birthday, Jeanette!
