A man has died after his plane crashed in far north Queensland.
A search was launched on Monday afternoon after the 71-year-old pilot failed to arrive at Atherton, southwest of Cairns.
Police have confirmed the aircraft was found during an aerial search of the Herberton range around 4pm.

The male pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Emergency services will return to the site later this morning with the Forensic Crash Unit and Australian Transport Safety Bureau to conduct and investigation.
