Planned burn to take place on the northern Gold Coast today

Residents on the northern Gold Coast are being told to expect some smoke in the area today, with a planned burn taking place.

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services will be working within the Hollywell area as part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests.

Weather permitting, they’ll be conducting a burn within the Pine Ridge Conservation Park to reduce the volume of ‘forest fuels’.

“This will help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration,” the latest advice reads.

“Smoke can decrease visibility on the roads, so it is important that motorists drive safely to the conditions.”
