Planned burning in the Gold Coast hinterland begins today

Gold Coast residents are being told not to be alarmed if you spot smoke in the hinterland area, with planned burning beginning today.

From today until Friday (July 19), works will be carried out by Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service in the Tamborine National Park.

A planned burn will be conducted in the Corbould section of the park, to help protect life and property in the event of a wildfire.

The burning could mean residents see smoke in the areas surrounding Tamborine and Cedar Creek.

The Department of Environment and Science is urging people with breathing problems or other health conditions to seek medical advice.

Locals are also being notified that all fire trails will be closed to public access during the burning.
