Planned burns could result in smoke around the Gold Coast
Gold Coasters are being reminded that there are a couple of hazard reduction burns happening today.
The Mudgeeraba Rural Fire Brigade says burns will happen on the Gilston side of Hinze Dam, and could produce a bit of smoke.
Winds are expected to blow the smoke to the west, though we’re being told not to be alarmed if we can see smoke over the coast.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services are also carrying out hazard reduction burns in the north today.
They’re conducting a planned burn within Carbrook Conservation Park, with smoke potentially affecting areas of Stapylton, Loganholme and Alberton areas as well.
Those who suffer breathing problems are being urged to keep their windows and doors shut, and keep breathing medication nearby.
🔥SMOKE ALERT🔥: QPWS will conduct a planned burn within Carbrook Conservation Park today (6/8), weather permitting. Smoke may affect Carbrook, Redland Bay, Eagleby, Loganholme, Stapylton and Alberton areas.
