Police allegedly punched, kicked and spat at during arrest

A teenage couple has allegedly launched a disgusting attack on Police during a dramatic arrest in western Sydney.

Officers arrived at Sherwood Road in Merrylands about 11.55pm on Friday following reports of a domestic incident, to find a man and woman arguing outside.

When police went to speak with the couple the woman, 19, tried to run into the traffic.

Police subdued her and called for Ambulance paramedics to help take her to hospital.

While waiting for the Ambulance to arrive, the woman was able to run to the rear of a unit block.

Police followed and were eventually able to detain her, but one officer copped a fist to the side of his face, allegedly from a 19-year-old man.

A scuffle broke out and OC spray was used to subdue the man before he was arrested.

He was taken to Merrylands Police Station and charged with assault police to appear at Fairfield Local Court on 24 May.

His girlfriend was taken to Westmead Hospital for assessment, where it’s alleged she kicked a female officer in the leg several times and spat at her.

She’s yet to be charged.

Both police officers were able to continue with their duties after medical checks.
