THREE young men and a teenage girl have been charged after allegedly turning on police and spitting on paramedics outside a pub at Ipswich overnight.

Police were called to a licenced premises on Warwick Road at Yamanto just before 1am after a private function involving a large number of people was shut down following a disturbance.

When officers arrived, however, it’s alleged a large group of people who had congregated outside the premises started fighting on the street.

Police tried to bust up the brawl but were allegedly attacked in the process.

A 19-year-old man from Flinders View allegedly spat on police and paramedics.

He and three other people, including two 18-year-old men and a 17-year-old girl, were arrested and charged with obstructing police.

The eldest of the four was also charged with assault, while the two 18-year-old’s were also charged with public nuisance.

The males are due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court next month, while the teenage girl will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

All four have also been banned from the licenced premises.
