Police appeal after pair seriously injured in Hope Island smash

Investigations are underway after two men were seriously injured in a nasty crash at Hope Island.

The car, a 2008 red Kia Rio sedan, was travelling westbound along Hope Island Road around 4.00pm on Friday when the driver lost control.

It’s understood the vehicle then crossed over a median strip and struck a tree on the opposite side of the road.

The driver, a 26-year-old man and his 24-yer-old passenger, both from Yarrabilba, suffered serious injuries.

They were treated at the scene by the high acuity response unit before being rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in serious conditions.

Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are now investigating.

They’re appealing for witnesses, or anyone who observed the vehicle before the crash, to contact them.

Police are also seeking any relevant dashcam footage.
