Police appeal following fatal M1 motorbike crash

Investigations are continuing into a horror accident on the M1 that claimed the life of a Gold Coast motorcyclist.

The motorbike rider was travelling south on the motorway around 2pm on Wednesday when he collided with another vehicle near Exit 71 at Nerang.

The force of the collision threw the man off his motorbike before being struck by an oncoming truck.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, but the 66-year-old Carrara man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were uninjured.

The accident caused traffic chaos for motorists as investigators examined the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is now appealing for witnesses to the crash or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the moments leading up to the crash.

It capped off a horror day on southeast roads after two people were killed in a car rollover at Stockleigh in Logan.

A teenager was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition following the crash while another teen is in a serious condition.
