Police appeal for witnesses in serious M1 crash on the Gold Coast

Police are calling on any witnesses in a serious crash on the M1 in Merrimac last night, which left a woman with serious injuries.

Her Rav 4 was travelling southbound around 6.00pm, when she was hit behind by a stolen subaru.

The collision caused her car to flip and roll several times before finally coming to a stop.

The 55-year-old woman sustained a serious hand injury, and was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

While the male driver of the alleged stolen vehicle fled the scene before emergency services arrived.

Investigations are now underway, with police calling on any witnesses – or anyone with dashcam footage – of the incident to come forward.
