Police appeal for help to identify man pulled from water at Byron Bay

Police are desperately appealing for help to identify a man, whose body was found floating in water at Byron Bay yesterday.

Around 4.00pm, a woman was swimming in waters at Belongil Beach when she noticed a man’s body in the water.

With the help of another swimmer, the man was pulled to shore, however he could not be revived.


The identify of the man remains unknown, with police urgently seeking assistance from the public to help identify him.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged between 65 and 75-years-old, about 175cm tall, of solid build and with short grey ‘balding’ hair.

The man’s property found on the beach included an older-style car key (no remote included) and did not contain a description of the vehicle’s make or model.
