Police appeal to help local Burleigh family following devastating unit fire

Officers from Broadbeach Police Station have set up a public appeal to help a local family get back on its feet following a devastating fire at a unit in Burleigh Waters last month.

They are appealing for donations of clothing, household items and toys to help the family who lost most of their possessions in the non-suspicious fire on Cassowary Drive on May 31.

The family has two children, a girl aged 12 and a 4-year-old boy.

The girl is a particularly talented dancer and recently won a scholarship to a dance program, however all her dance clothing has been destroyed in the blaze.

Police are appealing to the public for donations including any men’s clothing size small to medium, women’s clothing size 14, girls’ clothing (including dance outfits) size 8 and boys clothing sizes 4-5, as well as any toys and books that your children no longer use and are willing to donate to help this family.

All donations can be delivered to Storage King Miami 20 Oak Avenue Miami from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am to 5pm and Saturday 8am to 4pm.

Police will co-ordinate the delivery of all donations to the family.

I have a single foam mattress and other bits and pieces I’d be interested in donating. Got about 3 X garbage bags full of stuff that I could sort through if they are still in need of things.

I have childrens dancing costumes. My children danced competitively and I have some really lovely ones. Can the family contact me so they can have a look what they need. Thank you.
