Police appeal to track down man wanted over alleged stabbing

New South Wales Police have warned a man, wanted over an alleged stabbing, could be in Tweed Heads or the Gold Coast.

They’ve issued an appeal for public help to track down 23-year-old Russell Purcell.

He is wanted on an outstanding warrant over an alleged stabbing in Far Northern New South Wales.


The man’s described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 175cm tall, with a medium build, with dark curly hair, a dark moustache and beard stubble.

He was last seen wearing a light-coloured t-shirt, with writing on the front.

Police say he is known to frequent both the Tweed and Coolangatta areas.

Anyone who sees him is urged to contact their local Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
