SIX people have been arrested and charged after police were allegedly attacked by a pack of drunks during a violent disturbance on the Glitter Strip on Saturday morning.
Police were called to Orchid Avenue, Surfers Paradise around 1.30am following reports of an out-of-control group of interstate revelers.
As police attempted to disperse the drunken group, they allegedly turned on officers, with one man grabbing an officer by the throat.

In all, four men and two women were charged with an array of offences, including numerous counts of assault police.
A 19-year-old South Australian woman has been charged with three counts of assault police, and a 20-year-old man from New South Wales has been charged with obstruct police.
A 24-year-old New South Wales man has been issued with a Notice To Appear for assault police and public nuisance, and a man (26) and woman (25), also from New South Wales have each been charged with obstruct police and public nuisance.
All five are expected to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on August 13.
The sixth man, a 20-year-old from New South Wales, has been issued with a Notice To Appear for assault police and is expected to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on September 26.
