Police called in to bust up domestic-related street brawl in Sydney

A man has been arrested and is assisting police with their inquiries following a domestic-related street brawl in Sydney’s west overnight that left two people injured.

Police say officers were patrolling Cowpasture Road at Hoxton Park at around 1am when they spotted up to 20 people fighting near the intersection of Hoxton Park Road.

Officers called for reinforcements to help bust up the brawl.


Southbound traffic on Cowpasture Road was reduced from three lanes to just one while emergency crews responded to the incident.

It’s alleged that a 22-year-old man was mowed down by a car during the melee. He suffered a fractured ankle.

A 25-year-old man was also treated by paramedics for a head injury after he was allegedly struck with a weapon.

Both men were taken to hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the car which is believed to have been used to run down the younger man was arrested at the scene.

The 23-year-old man was taken to Green Valley Police Station where he spent the morning assisting police with their inquiries.

Police say they believe the incident was domestic related.
