Three people have been arrested after two cars burst into flames the M1 this afternoon.
NSW police say a pursuit was underway in the northbound lanes, with police deploying road spikes at the Duranbah Tunnel.
The sedan then came to a stop and pulled over on the grass, where the police car also stopped.
The grass then caught fire, spreading to both vehicles.
They were both destroyed in the incident.
One police officer has been taken to Tweed Heads hospital for smoke inhalation as a precaution.
