Police close in on father-son fugitives

UPDATE : A police car and another car have crashed north east of Melbourne, near where Gino and Mark Stocco were last seen.

The father and son were spotted driving on a highway in the area overnight.

The Queensland men, who have avoided police for several years, are wanted for string of offences in Queensland and NSW.
EARLIER : THE HUNT intensifies for two of Australia’s most wanted fugitives.

Gino Stocco and his son Mark are believed to be hiding in mountain country, northeast of Melbourne.

Victorian police narrowed the search on Wednesday, following a reported sighting of the pair and a stolen 4WD at a petrol station in the state’s north on Monday night.

It’s believed the same vehicle was seen early this morning in the state’s central highlands.

Police are now scouring a 100-square kilometre area around Yea.

The Queensland men have been on the run for several years but sparked a fresh chase when they were involved in a shoot-out with New South Wales Police near Wagga Wagga last Friday.

They are wanted for string of criminal offences, mostly against farmers, in Queensland and NSW.
