Detectives are desperately trying to locate a missing man whose ute was found crashed and abandoned west of Port Macquarie on the NSW Mid North Coast yesterday.

Forty-five-year-old John Shaw’s white Mitsubishi was found on its roof off the Oxley Highway, about 25km east of Mt Seaview at around 2.30am on Saturday.

No one was found in the vehicle and, despite extensive inquiries by police, there has been no sign of Mr Shaw either at his home or at any local hospitals.

Police say he had been out to lunch with family in Taree and was last seen driving home at around 3.30pm on Friday.

Detectives hold concerns for Mr Shaw’s well-being, and are appealing to anyone with information to contact police.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 73cm tall, with a medium/fit build, black hair and at the time he was wearing a blue shirt, black shorts and whte sneakers.
