Police I.D pregnant woman hit and killed by car in Sydney

POLICE say they are one step closer to identifying a pregnant woman who was hit and killed by a car in Sydney’s Inner West on Monday night.

The woman was struck on Parramatta Road in Homebush, near the intersection of Flemington Road, shortly after 7pm.

She sustained life-threatening injuries and, despite the desperate attempts of paramedics to keep her alive, died at the scene.

Unfortunately, emergency services were unable to identify the woman.

Following an appeal for information, officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit today confirmed they had received details of a 32-year-old woman believed to be the victim.

Police are now working with that information to formally identify the woman.

The driver of the vehicle, a 31-year-old man, stopped after the woman was hit. He tested negative when subjected to a roadside breath test and was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Inquiries are continuing.
