Police hunt attacker after man found stabbed in the chest

Police are investigating after a man was stabbed in Sydney’s west early this morning.

Police and paramedics were called to Gimi Grove and Parkwood Street in Plumpton around 2.15am following reports that a man had been stabbed.

Officers arrived to find a 22-year-old man with a stab wound to his chest.


He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital.

Police said his injury is not considered life-threatening.

The man’s alleged attacker remains on the run.

He is described as being of Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged in his late 30s to early 40s with scruffy curly hair.

He was last seen wearing a dark blue or grey hooded jumper, cream coloured pants and was carrying a backpack.

Police said the man may also have wounds to his hands.

As investigations into the man’s alleged attack continue, police are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact Mt Druitt Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
