Police hunt man after teen girl indecently assaulted on Sydney train

Police are appealing for public assistance after a teenage girl was allegedly indecently assaulted on a train in Sydney yesterday.

Police said that, at around 8.30am, the 17-year-old girl was on a crowded train travelling between Strathfield and Ashfield Railway Stations when a man standing next to her allegedly put his hand up her skirt and indecently assaulted her.

The teen moved to another carriage and the matter was reported to police after she got off the train.

Detectives are now investigating and searching for the woman’s alleged attacker who has been described as being Indian/Sub-Continental appearance, about 30 years old, 180cm tall, with an average build, short black hair, clean shaven, wearing a black top which was possibly a turtle neck, and wearing black sunglasses.

Investigators are reviewing CCTV in an attempt to track down the man, and are urging for any witnesses to come forward.

It is unknown at this stage what railway stations the man boarded or disembarked the train at.
